Hi there, I'm @mimihanatea on twitter.
As I'm a Japanese, I always write blog in Japanese.
I'm writing this article in English for tea lovers and beginners worldwide, I thought it could be helpful even a tiny tip,
You know "tea" is a nonessential grocery items, the tase, scents, aroma are quite vasious for each person.
I try to introduce tea details (sorry for my bad English...（；＿；）)
Darjeeling is a regional name of northeast India. You can feel each tea estate of individuality as the way of tea manufacturing is diverse. The color of tea leaves is tend to be green. The water color is from green to lemon yellow, and scanty orange.
The fermentation is relatively lighter than tea manufactured in other seasons. It has variety that Spring Darjeeling has green tea-like arome, greenish, flowery, and fluity one. The characteristics is sensitive and aromatic. I recommend this tea is for straight tea.
●Darjeeling Summer (plucking)
The water color is from orange to scanty brown. This can be tea, in teabags in your near supermaket, sold as "Darjeeling". Better quality of Summer Darjeeling has mascatel flavor. It has also zesty astringency. This is also for straight tea.
This astringency is mellow and some taste like maple. this is delicious for milk as well. This Darjeeling has fragrance even in sensitive aroma.
This is typical taste of black tea. I recommend this for beginners and people who have no idea what to drink in tea. Nilgiri is good for lemon tea and tea with milk, either hot or iced. It tastes light and simple.
Assam is also a regional name of India, dark color and malty flavor. This is very proper for tea with milk.
Tea from Nepal is various by estates. It is light taste because of it's close to Darjeeling. The water color is from yellow to orange. The aroma is weaker than tea from Darjeeling though, The tea price is much cheaper.
Tea from Sri Lanka. Kandy tastes sweet and hardly astringent . This is good for straight tea. and I recommend this is for the base of flavored tea.
Dimbula is typical taste of ceylon tea. Clear astringency and mild taste are distinctive. If you ordered tea at most cafe, dimbula tea would be served in Japan. This is good for both straight and milk.
●Ceylon Nuwara Eliya
The water color of nuwara eliya tea is lighter than other tea from Sri Lanka. it has sensitive aroma like flowers and is a little close to spring Darjeeling. This is for staight.
Uva has the strongest astringency in black tea. so this is better for milk. As the aroma is unique, it varies depending on individuals.
Though the tea color is dark, the taste is like black sugar and mild. It's very good for tea with milk.
●Malaysia Cameron Highlands
Light brown water color. tea from Cameron Highlands is refreshing taste and a little close to tea from Nilgiri.
This tea is famous for its being used for base of flavored tea worldwide. Keemun is well balanced taste. Its aroma is like orchid. High quality keemun has no smoky aroma.
Sometimes Yunnan tea tastes like "Dashi"(Japanese soup stock). And some Yunnan tea is like flower necter. This is much more unique than Keemun.
"Royal Blend" and "English Breakfast" are blended tea from the area I mentioned above.
The famos tea "Earl Grey " is a flavored tea, which bergamot oil is added.
